Wool-Aid Supports Young Monks in India

We received a special request to help a group of 19 young monks. These boys of Tibetan background are living at a branch of the Kyegu Monastery in India (about 9 hours drive north of Delhi) that was founded in 1965 by Tibetan refugees who fled Kyegu.

These young monks struggle to have warm clothes in winter. They are very young — age 7 through 14, and small for their age. A variety of items for this age range will be appropriate to provide an inventory of warm clothing for the boys as they grow and as new boys arrive.

Because of cultural considerations, it is requested that any items sent for the young monks be in the red, maroon, and brown colorways. However, browns can range from dark brown to tan to gold.

A first shipment of Wool-Aid items in appropriate colors has been sent, and although it was received in hot summer weather, cooler temperatures are common throughout the year and the young monks will be able to wear the warm woolen clothing sent by Wool-Aid nearly year-round.
